Invention education
Invention education is a proven way to teach disciplined inventive thinking in the classroom. Inventive thinking is necessary to build an innovative, entrepreneurial and diverse workforce to meet every country’s future needs! Through invention education, we put science, engineering design, robotics, coding, making, and other skills into action.
Invention education is a pedagogical approach to learning, where educators help students define a real problem affecting others, design a solution, build a prototype, and respond to user feedback. This way of learning often engages young women and minorities, who do not traditionally identify with STEM subjects. Resultantly, students who have struggled with traditional academics, usually excel and their interests are ignited, they eagerly collaborate with peers to create meaningful products to benefit their communities.
Invention education cultivates active learning through design-based invention and entrepreneurship thinking. Through student, faculty, and community engagement, invention education bridges the gap between university learning and practical skills in developing innovative engineers. Students and educators alike share learn new things, build critical thinking skills, contribute, and thrive.
